Changing the Assignee for a Task

Use this workflow to replace the editor assigned to a task or to continue work with another editor while preserving or discarding previous changes.

Step 1. Open the project

Go to the Project page where the task is located.

Step 2. Decide how to handle the previous editor’s work

Choose one of the following options:

  • Keep previous edits

    • Make sure the editor has clicked Save progress.

    • Process the changes by clicking Process changes.

    • Once processing is complete, change the task status to Completed.

  • Discard previous edits

    • Change the task status to Cancelled.

    • All previous changes will be ignored.

Step 3. Create a new task for another editor

  1. Hover over the task block.

  2. Click Add new [task type] task.

  3. Assign the new task to the selected editor.

Preserve edits when switching editors

Use this option if you want the new editor to continue from the previous editor’s results.

Step 4. Confirm changes are finalized

Make sure:

  • The previous editor’s progress is saved.

  • All changes are processed.

  • No active operations are running.

Step 5. Pull files into the new task

  1. Open the new editor’s task.

  2. Click Pull files into the task.

The task will be updated with all processed changes from the previous editor.

Result

The task is reassigned to a new editor:

  • Either with all previous edits preserved, or

  • As a clean task with no prior changes.
